Sheep is a anthropomorphic sheep who lives in a unrealistically-affordable apartment in The Big City and has to deal with a lot of chaos. From being wanted by the Secret Military Organization ran by General Specific for a sheep-powered ray-gun, trying to romance Swanky while avoiding Lady Virginia Richington, hiding from Lisa Rental who mistakes him for a dog and wants to keep him as a pet, to all sorts of ridiculousness. He is the main protagonist of the series.

Biography[]

Life at the Farm and “In the Baa-ginning”[]

Sheep was born on Farmer John's farm on a unspecified year, and was given the name "Sheep" by the farmer because he looked like a little Sheep when he was born. During his time living at the farm, Sheep made some friends, notably Sammy, Frammy and Clammy. His life at the farm was not perfect. For one thing, Sheep didn't like of how his friends at the Farm would always played Go Fish, while he was a Chess sheep. Sheep had been kept in line by Dagger, a sheep dog, before he requested Farmer John to fire him publicly, which outright embarrassed him and wanted to have revenge on the sheep. Although not fully confirmed, Sheep properly had been treated better than the other animals by Farmer John since he considers him as a favorite. Regardless, Sheep's life at the farm was peaceful and enjoys living there, until one day, something diabolical happened.

Sheep was having a usual day at the farm was taken by surprise after General Specific and Private Public, who are part of the Secret Military Organisation, captured him before Farmer John took him back from them. They explain to the two that they need Sheep for a Sheep-Powered Ray-Gun that only he can fit it. After Farmer John kept asking what the organisation is and refusing to give away Sheep, General Specific threatened to destroy the farm, which led Sheep to make a decision: To escape the farm to prevent it being destroyed. He packed up his things and quietly left the farm to The Big City without word. On his journey to The Big City, Sheep was chased by Private Public and his soldiers after General Specific found out that he had left the Farm. Sheep had tried to run away and escape, but was caught off-screen by Private Public and was about to be taken to the Secret Military Organization's base.

During the journey to the base via truck, Sheep has somehow escaped and ended up in the base. He thought life in The Big City would be easy and fun, before he realised that he'll had to do with the traffic, yelling and the German shepherds. However, he'd began to get used to it overtime as he was able to get his wool clean via the dry-cleaners, get money to eat from a job as a telemarketer, and get a reasonably-priced apartment in a nice neighbourhood.

One day, Sheep had taken his wool to the dry-cleaners as usual and found out that it wasn't ready yet, so he had to borrow a dress that fitted his size. All of a sudden, a helicopter arrives near him and it is revealed that the Secret Military Organization had found out where he is via a “Sophisticated Digital Sheep Finder Thingy”. As the helicopter landed, a group of soldiers grouped around Sheep because of the Sheep-Finder going off in suspicion. General Specific walks up to Sheep, and mistakes him for a human woman because of the dress and falls in love with him, despite the Sheep-Finder saying otherwise. While the soldiers (after being told by Private Public) to turn The Big City upside down, General Specific apologises to Sheep and explaining to him the situation, before offering him a dinner. Sheep is nervous about it, but for an unknown reason, decides to go along with it. Later, Sheep is having a tense a dinner with General Specific, who still mistakes him for a human woman, at Chef De' Oxymoron when the general finds out that Sheep is nearby via the Sheep-Finder. General Specific then gets beaten by his own soldiers after Private Public mistakes him for Sheep being in disguise. Sheep uses this opportunity to get away and leave the restaurant, when he reunites with Farmer John and is reminded of his life at the Farm.

The next day, Sheep had thought to himself about why he'd ran away and everything in The Big City reminded him of home and yet his life in The Big City had given him independence from Farmer John. As he was walking about in The Big City, his attention was grabbed by Farmer John, General Specific and Private Public, and found out that Farmer John had worked with General Specific to capture him for the ray-gun only on weekdays. In response, Sheep tries to run away across The Big City to avoid being caught by the trio but, unfortunately, gets stranded on the rooftop of a building. Upon Sheep having no where to go, Farmer John tried to guilt-trip Sheep to make him go back to the Farm and let General Specific use him for the ray-gun via cards that the general written himself. The farmer doesn't understand what the cards mean along with the handwriting and complains about to General Specific. Using the opportunity, Sheep uses some of his wool to try and swing off the building safely but ends up landing on the ground hard. Following this impact, he was unable to move and was about to be caught by Farmer John, General Specific and Private Public before they get stopped by the police after Little Bo Peep reports to them because she wants to save Sheep. After pushing Little Bo Peep aside, Sheep had decided to continue living in The Big City and thought it be a better place to live.

Life in The Big City[]

Ever since “In The Baa-ginning”, Sheep's life in The Big City has mostly changed. It's implied that Sheep was fired from being a telemarketer, and had to do several jobs to continue living in such a place. Notable ones involving being a window cleaner, jumping over fences to help insomniacs sleep, to being a barber. It's unknown how Sheep is actually treated in The Big City, as the people's opinion and view on him change from episode to episode. On some episodes, he get treated horribly by the people and has to deal with a lot of bias, some include having to pay thousands of dollars for tickets, unable to join clubs, or even get a taxis or a bus. One other episodes, he gets treated wonderfully by the people and they all help each other as well as let him join groups and clubs.

Appearance[]

Sheep's design remains consistent throughout with very little changes between “In the Baa-ginning” and the rest of the series. He is quite short, has yellow-ish skin along with pink skin under his wool, green eyes and white-ish wool and tail.

Relationships[]

Swanky[]

Sheep has a love interest in Swanky, he had fallen in love with her at first sight and mistaken her for a sheep at one point. At every possible chance, Sheep tries his hardest to romance Swanky via various means (gifts, shearing, surgeries, transformations, etc.) and is happy that Swanky gives him the attention he wants most of the time. Unfortunately, Sheep doesn't spend as much time with Swanky because of Lady Richington keeping him away from her.

Farmer John[]

Farmer John is Sheep's ex-owner and they have a rough relationship. Sheep didn't like being with Farmer John most of the time and that only solidified when he escaped to The Big City, where Farmer John would use various means to get Sheep back to the farm (stalking, guilt-tripping, etc.).

General Specific[]

General Specific is Sheep's arch-nemesis and they both despise each other. General Specific wants to use Sheep for a Sheep-Powered Ray-Gun that only he can fit in, while Sheep wants to live his life peacefully. This led to many situations where Sheep was being chased and even captured several times by him and his henchmen. At one point, when Sheep was borrowing a dress, General Specific mistaken him for a human woman and developed a crush on him. This was very brief though.

Lisa Rental[]

When Sheep first meet Lisa Rental, he thought she was going to help him after fooling General Specific into believing he was a sheep dog. However, it turned out that Lisa Rental wanted to keep Sheep and had actually mistaken him for a dog, along with mistreating him. As a result, Sheep tried his best to avoid her as much as he could.

X-Agent[]

X-Agent was Sheep's (presumed) best friend and first sheep friend in The Big City.

“Fleeced to Meet You”[]

Their relationship initially started as a trap after X-Agent was hired by the Secret Military Organisation to fool Sheep into a false friendship with him so he can be captured. Sheep didn't realised that at the time, and was so overjoyed on how much he and X-Agent have a lot in common, as they're both sheep and enjoy playing chess together. In addition, Sheep's liking towards X-Agent increased after he had defended him from Lisa Rental. Upon being fooled by X-Agent, Sheep felt betrayed by him and was upset that he wasn't a real friend. However, that quickly changed X-Agent betrays the Secret Military Organization (after learning that “friends don't double-cross” friends and his relationship with Sheep mattered more) and helped Sheep escape from them, which lead to them having to say goodbye.

“Flock Up In The Sky”[]

When X-Agent returned and became protective, Sheep was thankful for about it and thought he was lucky to have such a friend. However, he soon became annoyed when X-Agent was constantly giving him unwanted help and thought he was going too far. Sheep initially tried to sort it out with X-Agent, but it didn't go the way it was planned after he called X-Agent something (which cannot be translated) which made him cut ties with Sheep. When Sheep was captured by General Specific (under General Specific Man) at the time, he was saved by X-Agent and helped him defeat the general by destroying the controls to the wand that gave him superpowers. From that, they both learned how to balance their relationship. Their relationship was cut short though after X-Agent had to leave for Toledo because of an intercom telling him to go there urgently and was “not just a convenient way” to get him “off the show”. Before X-Agent leaves, he and Sheep give each other a farewell and a small hug.

It's unknown what Sheep's thoughts on X-Agent after his departure. He either mostly likely forgotten about him or still misses him deeply.

Trivia[]

  • He has the most amount of relationships throughout the series.
  • Originally, he was going to be the Vice President of the United States and a superhero named "Vice President", but the idea was rejected as it was "really too weird for anyone". In response, Mo Willems decided to just have Sheep be in the Big City.

Episode Appearances[]

Since he is the main protagonist of the series, Sheep appears in every episode except "Baah-Dern Times" where he and the rest of the cast are sick with the flu.
